With work and now family responsibilities, my girlfriends and I don’t always get to see each other as often as we used to, so we make an effort to do brunch, after-work drinks, dinner or house get-togethers every few weeks.
One of our most recent girls’ brunch date was at Refinery Rooftop, located on the rooftop of the Refinery Hotel in the New York garment district. We enjoyed it so much, we actually ended up overstaying our welcome (about 5 hours), and after being moved to three different tables by the hosts who so graciously tried not to kick us out, we finally decided it was time to go.
If you’re ever in the area and looking for a fab place to brunch, lunch or just have drinks with a friend or two, I highly recommend this venue. Note that our outing was during the summer, so we were able to enjoy sitting outside while “brunching” and catching up for a good part of our stay, but we were also seated inside for a few and still enjoyed the ambience.

Meet the girlfriends – Iz, Sha and Mich

The brunch/lunch menu isn’t a long one, but is filled with some mouth-watering eats. Sha and I decided on the Fried Chicken & Waffles, and I’m not ashamed to say that I finished it all off in about 5 minutes (it was that good). I was also introduced to bacon butter, which was pretty damn amazing. My sis Iz settled on the Benedict (eggs benedict with rosemary ham and crispy yukons) and Mich got the Burger order from the lunch menu which came on a brioche bun with cheddar, caramelized onions, fries and pickle. We didn’t really experiment with the drinks since it was so early in the day, but I did have what I think was a mojito (blood orange?), my memory fails, but I had a quite a few of them and enjoyed each one. I intend to go back and try some of the other tasty sounding items on the menu, but just from my first experience, I would definitely give this place a solid A for good food, great ambience, and A+ service.
